UP Elections 2022 Political Play
New electoral equations have emerged this time. Then-BJP ally OP Rajbhar’s Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) has joined forces with the Samajwadi Party, whose president Akhilesh Yadav has refused to form an official alliance with either the Congress or the BSP. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the SP and the BSP formed a coalition.
The Congress, the BSP, and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) are all vying for seats in western Uttar Pradesh districts, which have a higher Muslim population than the rest of the state. Muslim candidates have received more tickets from both the BSP and the AIMIM.
